Myanmar military approaches Chinland Council for ceasefire talks

The junta has approached the Chinland Council for ceasefire talks through a third party in India, according to the council’s foreign minister.,The council confirmed the junta’s overture, which comes as ethnic armed organisations (EAOs) intensify fighting against the military regime, which controls most of western Myanmar’s Chin State.,The junta has reached out to the Chinland Council through an intermediary in India for ceasefire talks, according to the council’s foreign minister, however, the council has not yet received any direct communication from the junta.,“They have reached out through a third party in India. But we have not received any direct communication yet,” said the Chinland Council’s foreign minister, Lallam Sak.,The military regime has been engaged in fighting with numerous EAOs since the coup in February 2021. In Chin State, resistance forces such as the Chinland Defence Force (CDF) have been fiercely fighting against the military regime, which has not been able to gain full control of the state.,Lallam Sak stated that the council is considering the possibility of ceasefire talks, but it remains unclear whether the junta is genuinely seeking peace.,“We are considering the possibility of talks, but we are not sure yet if they are genuinely seeking peace,” he added.
