Sen Monorom Authorities Remove Non-compliant Signboards, Inspect 8 Foreigners
Sen Monorom city authorities in Mondulkiri province have removed 15 business signboards for non-compliance with technical standards, lacking permits, and incorrect Khmer spelling. An administrative inspection in three locations within the city also identified eight foreign nationals, including Chinese, Lao, and Vietnamese.
Authorities in Sen Monorom city, Mondulkiri province, have taken strict measures by inspecting and removing 15 business signboards that were found to be non-compliant with technical standards, lacking permits, and containing spelling errors in Khmer script. The operation, conducted on September 16, 2026, was led by Mr. Meas Chonny, Deputy Governor of Sen Monorom city, with the participation of security forces and relevant officials. The goal was to organize urban order, enhance the city's aesthetics, and strengthen the enforcement of laws related to signboard installations. Mr. Meas Chonny stated that as part of the city's unified command, he led the working group to remove several foreign language signboards that were found to be without proper permits. As a result, a total of 15 large and small signboards were discovered and removed in the Svay Meanchey commune. He further explained that this operation aims to eliminate signboards that are not installed according to technical standards, have spelling mistakes in the national script, and especially those that lack legal authorization. In addition to organizing order and the city's aesthetics, authorities also conducted administrative inspections at three locations within the Svay Meanchey commune. During these inspections, eight foreign nationals were found, including two women, representing three nationalities: Chinese, Lao, and Vietnamese. Concurrently, the Sen Monorom city authorities have instructed all business owners to cooperate with the authorities and ensure their signboards are properly prepared before official installation. This is to guarantee urban order, aesthetics, and effective law enforcement. The authorities also urged all business owners to apply for permits and follow the procedures set by competent authorities, as well as to carefully check the form, script, size, and location of the signboards before installation, in order to jointly preserve the beauty and order of Sen Monorom city.
