Pattaya Tourist Police Enhance Tourist Protection with Taser Training

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Tourist Police are undergoing training to utilize Taser guns in high-risk situations involving tourists and members of the public. Authorities emphasize the importance of proper and safe use of the equipment to enhance officer response capabilities and ensure tourist safety. The training, held on September 8th at the Shambhala Hotel Pattaya in Chonburi, is part of the 18th Taser gun training program organized by the Tourist Police Bureau. Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuk-am, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, has directed the development of officers’ operational capabilities to better respond to situations involving tourists and ensure correct usage of government-issued equipment. A total of 56 officers from Tourist Police Station 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Division 1, along with investigation officers from Division 2, participated in the session. Acting Pol. Col. Tolap Tinamat, an inspector from the Tourist Police Bureau’s Administrative Division 1, served as an instructor, providing practical training on the correct and safe deployment of Taser guns. The devices are intended to aid officers in controlling potentially dangerous situations where there is a risk to themselves, tourists, or the public. The training specifically focused on adhering to established operational procedures for effective and safe use. Officials stated that regular practice is crucial for officers to remain prepared for high-risk incidents, forming part of broader efforts to ensure Tourist Police are ready to assist and respond appropriately at all times.
