Train and light truck collide near Thathon town on Yangon-Mawlamyine railway line

It has been reported by local residents that a train and a light truck collided at a railway crossing near Shinhpu village in Thathon Township on the Yangon-Mawlamyine railway line. According to a local resident, the collision occurred around 1:30 PM on September 19th, when the (81) up Yangon-Mawlamyine express train, traveling from Bilin Station to Thathon Station, collided with a light truck driven by a person named Myo Min Htike, which was heading from Shinhpu village towards Portawmo village, at railway crossing milepost number (136 2/4). He stated, "The light truck fell off the road due to the impact of the collision with the train. Only the driver was in the vehicle. He sustained injuries." It has been reported that the driver of the light truck, who was injured in the collision between the train and the light truck, received necessary medical treatment from the Akinnatwele Social Assistance Rescue Team (Thathon) and was transported to Thathon District People's Hospital. Regarding the incident, it has been reported that the relevant authorities are taking legal action against the light truck driver. It has been reported that although there are 157 railway crossings on the Yangon-Mawlamyine railway line from Theinzayatt Station to Mawlamyine Station, only 16 of them are legal railway crossings.
