Phnom Penh's Prek Ta Kong 1 Area to Benefit from New Drainage System

In Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, the Chak Angre Leu commune is advancing a new drainage system project spanning nearly one kilometer to resolve persistent flooding and drainage blockage issues faced by residents in the Prek Ta Kong 1 village. This infrastructure development, utilizing the commune's 2026 development fund, aims to improve the quality of life for its citizens. Specifically, the Chak Angre Leu commune administration is developing new drainage infrastructure for residents along the local roads in Prek Ta Kong 1 village, in the Meanchey district of Phnom Penh. Cheang Neath, a resident near the area, stated that this location is a local road that "always experiences regular flooding" due to "slow-flowing old pipes and sometimes blockages in their homes." However, seeing the authorities inspect and expedite the drainage pipe installation has made "all residents in the commune rejoice" for receiving new achievements that alleviate their past impacts and hardships. Mr. Keo Savoeun, the commune chief of Chak Angre Leu, informed that this infrastructure is a project from the 2026 commune development fund, built to established standards. The new drainage system will be a total of 998 meters long with a cross-sectional area of 1 meter, aimed at resolving waterlogging issues and further improving the living conditions of the residents in the commune. To ensure quality and adherence to technical standards, the commune chief added that he "always leads the commune forces to inspect the site directly" with the goal of ensuring the construction meets the defined standards and specifications. Finally, the commune administration appeals to the residents of the commune for their collective benefit, urging them to "maintain cleanliness" and "prevent waste from flowing into the drains," thereby avoiding standing water on the roads, unpleasant odors, or blocked water flow.
