Cambodia Offers Over 1,400 Scholarships for Poor Youth in Technical Vocational Training

The Professional Institute of Technology of Kampong Chhnang (PIKCHH), operating under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, has announced an initiative to provide 1,415 scholarships to young individuals hailing from impoverished and vulnerable households. This program is a component of Prime Minister Hun Manet's broader Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET 1.5M) initiative. PIKCHH has detailed that the scholarships will be allocated across thirteen distinct specialized fields. These areas of study encompass a range of in-demand skills, including computer services, computer graphic design, the installation and application of digital technologies, automotive maintenance and repair, vehicle air conditioning system maintenance and repair, building electrical installation, electric motor maintenance and repair, security camera system installation and maintenance, household refrigeration and air conditioning services, beauty services, small machinery maintenance and repair, automotive electrical system maintenance and repair, and the processing of vegetables and fruits. Recipients of these scholarships are set to benefit from a comprehensive package. This includes tuition fees covered entirely, personalized guidance on selecting appropriate vocational skills and insights into the current labor market, practical internship placements within various enterprises, and the attainment of a C1 level certificate, which also opens doors to further educational pursuits. Moreover, eligible participants identified as belonging to poor or vulnerable families, and possessing valid documentation, will receive a monthly stipend amounting to 1,120,000 Cambodian Riels per course.
