Cambodian Police Receive Commendation from UK Authorities for Rescuing British National

The Cambodian National Police have received a letter of thanks from the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency (NCA) for their efforts in rescuing a British national who was a victim of fraud in Cambodia and for providing crucial data and evidence. The commendation was presented by Mr. Javid Rashid Oomer, Director of Investigations at the NCA, during a bilateral meeting with General Sok Thet, Commissioner General of the National Police, held in Manila, Philippines, on the afternoon of July 24, 2026. During the meeting, both parties discussed and exchanged views on mutual cooperation. The NCA expressed its gratitude to the National Police Headquarters, led by General Sok Thet, for their assistance in rescuing a British citizen who had been lured to Cambodia under fraudulent pretenses, and for supporting the provision of data and evidence necessary for the UK authorities to proceed with legal procedures. This bilateral meeting took place while General Sok Thet was leading a high-level delegation from the National Police Headquarters to attend the 44th ASEANAPOL Conference in Manila, Philippines.
