BMKG: Indonesia's Weather Dominated by Thick Clouds Today

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that today's weather, Saturday, August 8, in most parts of Indonesia will be thick clouds. BMKG Praktirawan Ranika Dwi in an official broadcast monitored by Antara from Jakarta, said that starting from the Sumatra region, Pangkal Pinang City is predicted to be cloudy, while Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, and Jambi are thick clouds. "Light rain is predicted to hit the areas of Medan, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung," he said. Turning to Java Island, the weather in Surabaya City is predicted to be hazy, while Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang have the potential to be cloudy. For Yogyakarta City, it is predicted to be covered by thick clouds. Then for Kalimantan, the weather in Pontianak is predicted to be hazy, while Palangkaraya and Banjarmasin will be cloudy. Thick clouds have the potential to cover Samarinda, while light rain is predicted to rain on the Tanjung Selor area. Moving to the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, the weather in Mataram is predicted to be smoky or foggy, while Denpasar and Kupang have the potential to be cloudy. For the Sulawesi region, Makassar City is predicted to be cloudy, while Manado, Gorontalo, and Kendari will be covered by thick clouds. "Light intensity rain is predicted to rain on the Palu and Mamuju areas," said Ranika. Meanwhile, in the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ternate and Ambon are predicted to be thick clouds. Shifting to Papua, the weather in the Manokwari area is predicted to be smoky or foggy, while Jayapura will be cloudy. Meanwhile, the Sorong and Merauke regions will be thick clouds. "Nabire and Jayawijaya cities will be showered with light intensity rain," said Ranika. BMKG also reminded the public to be alert to the potential for moderate to heavy rain in the North Sumatra and Central Papua regions.
