Vietnam Sets August 10 Deadline for Follow-up Plans to Party Central Committee Resolutions

Prime Minister has set August 10 as the deadline for ministries, agencies, and localities to submit follow-up plans to implement resolutions adopted by the Party Central Committee, a move aimed at accelerating national development goals. The directive was issued during a conference where officials discussed the socio-economic situation in June and the second quarter of 2026, the allocation and disbursement of public investment capital, the implementation of national target programmes, and state budget-related tasks in the first six months. Vietnam's July Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3.08% from December 2025 and 4.45% year-on-year. The average CPI for the first seven months of the year rose by 4.39% year-on-year, with core inflation up 4.19%. More than 125,900 new enterprises were established between January and July, a 16.9% increase from the same period last year, indicating a vibrant economic landscape. In terms of institutional reforms, the National Assembly (NA) recently approved Nguyen Tien Hai as the Minister of Home Affairs through a secret ballot. Lawmakers are also deliberating on amendments to key laws, including the Law on Customs and the Law on Investment. NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man underscored the importance of incorporating feedback from enterprises and affected parties to improve the business climate, aligning with the Party's focus on institutional breakthroughs and enhancing governance effectiveness. On the diplomatic front, the President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, Sophon Zaram, is scheduled to pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 5-7.
