Laos Partners with UN to Boost Biodiversity Tourism

The Lao government and the United Nations have taken another step toward strengthening their development partnership by reviewing a new five-year cooperation framework that will guide joint efforts from 2027 to 2031. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has called for stronger efforts to accelerate socio-economic development in Laos’ four southern provinces, with a focus on regional connectivity, modern agriculture, clean energy, tourism, and value-added industries. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone visited Toumlane Subdistrict in Saravane Province on July 22, calling for stronger local governance, sustainable economic development, and improved public services. Laos has intensified preparations to host the 3rd Review Conference of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (3RC-CCM), with the National Committee for UXO Clearance convening a coordination meeting on July 23 to assess progress and ensure the event’s successful organization. Lao media plays a vital role in communicating Party guidelines, government policies, laws, and regulations to the public while serving as a bridge between the people and the Party-State, a senior official said last week at the First National Media Conference.
