Myitkyina-Mogok-Myitkyina railway route resumes after 5 years, State Chief Minister travels and meets locals along the way

The railway section between Myitkyina, Mogok, and Myitkyina, which had not been operational for over 5 years due to political circumstances, will resume its round-trip train services. It was reported that the Myitkyina-Mogok (downward) journey commenced on the morning of July 21st, with an opening ceremony held. State Chief Minister U Khett Htin Nan stated at the opening ceremony that the train services on route number 49 (upward) and 50 (downward) between Myitkyina and Mogok would alleviate the transportation difficulties faced by the local populace along the Myitkyina-Mogok-Mogok railway line, and would facilitate easier travel and goods transportation within the region. He urged the public to witness firsthand the efforts made by the State government and Myanma Railways in accordance with the guidance of the national government, and to collectively help maintain the longevity and durability of the main railway line and train carriages. Following the opening ceremony for route number 50 (downward) on the Myitkyina-Mogok railway section, State Chief Minister U Khett Htin Nan and officials traveled by train, making stops at various stations along the route. It was reported that at the stations along the journey, officials from Myanma Railways, departmental staff, students, local elders, and ethnic nationals welcomed them. During stops at intermediate stations along the journey, State Chief Minister U Khett Htin Nan met with passengers and local ethnic nationals traveling on the train, stating that the current train service utilizes advanced carriages, ensuring comfortable travel for the public, and aiming to foster greater development in the flow of goods and economic activities, as well as ensuring safe and convenient long-term travel for passengers. Regarding the resumption of the Myitkyina-Mogok-Myitkyina railway service, a resident from Hopin wrote on social media: "To be honest, I feel immense sadness. Because with this political situation, I thought my children would never see these things in their lifetime. Seeing it again now, my eyes welled up with tears. I am happy. This is a train that the people have been eagerly awaiting. I congratulate my elder sister and the state officials. I also appeal to saboteurs not to destroy the railway tracks and stations." The resumption of the Myitkyina-Mogok-Myitkyina railway section, which is over 90 miles long, is being undertaken as part of the new government's 100-day plan. On this route, the passenger train service number 49 (upward) from Mogok to Myitkyina and the passenger train service number 50 (downward) from Myitkyina to Mogok will be operated. The passenger train service number 49 (upward) from Mogok to Myitkyina will depart from Mogok Station at 6:00 AM and arrive at Myitkyina Station at 1:15 PM. The passenger train service number 50 (downward) from Myitkyina to Mogok will depart from Myitkyina Station at 6:00 AM and arrive at Mogok Station at 1:00 PM, respectively. The ticket prices for the full journey will be 25,000 kyats for first class and 15,000 kyats for ordinary class. The train will make stops at stations along the route, and tickets can be purchased at the respective stations three days in advance for first class and one day in advance for ordinary class. The Mogok-Mogok-Myitkyina railway section is a part of the Mandalay-Myitkyina main railway line. It is a crucial railway for local residents to travel between townships within Kachin State at a lower cost, and for transporting agricultural products and local produce to the market. During the rainy season when road travel is difficult, the railway serves as a safe transportation route for the local population.
