2 women arrested in Makati for alleged illegal recruitment

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP–CIDG) on Tuesday said it arrested two women in Makati City for an alleged illegal recruitment scheme. In a statement, the CIDG said it apprehended the two suspects, whom it did not immediately identify, last Friday morning along General Luna Street. The police explained that the suspects are accused of defrauding victims by promising them overseas employment opportunities and collecting money from them. Illegal recruitment remains a significant social issue in the Philippines, as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) play a crucial role in the country's economy. The Philippine government is intensifying efforts by law enforcement agencies to protect citizens from fraudulent illegal recruiters. Individuals seeking employment abroad are strongly advised to pursue job opportunities through legitimate recruitment agencies.
