Prabowo to Attend National Recitation and Prayer Event at Monas for Independence Day

As part of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day celebrations, a 'National Recitation and Prayer Event' is scheduled to take place at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta on Saturday night, August 1st, 2026. President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend the event, which anticipates approximately 100,000 participants. The Metro Jaya Regional Police will deploy 1,263 joint personnel to ensure the security of this significant national event. Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police, Brig. Gen. Dekananto Eko Purwono, stated that participants are expected from Jakarta, West Java, Banten, and other surrounding areas. He emphasized that maximum security measures will be implemented given the attendance of the President, state officials, and VIP guests. "We must all emphasize that this event will be attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia along with state officials and VIP guests," Dekananto told reporters. He also reminded all personnel on duty not to treat the security of this event as a routine agenda, stating, "I reiterate that this is a national agenda, so it cannot be considered a normative or ordinary activity." Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol. Budi Hermanto, explained that security operations are aimed at ensuring the entire series of events proceeds safely and orderly. According to Budi, public access to and from the Monas area will be facilitated through the East Gate, Southeast Gate, and Ikada Field. VIP guests will be directed through the West Gate, while the President, Vice President, and VVIP and VIP guests will use the Northwest Gate. In addition to securing various points, police will also provide parking areas for the public and conduct site sterilization before the event commences. Regarding traffic flow, Budi mentioned that traffic engineering will be implemented situationally based on field conditions. He added that security is not only focused on the smooth participation of the recitation attendees but also on ensuring that community activities continue without disruption. "We all hope that the joint recitation and prayer event in conjunction with the Indonesian Independence Day celebrations can proceed safely, orderly, and be well-managed," said Budi. The National Recitation and Prayer Event is scheduled to take place at the Monas area from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM WIB, as part of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia commemoration.
