BSP Launches Peñafrancia Festival Commemorative Coin, Sold Out Online

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has launched a commemorative coin to honor the Peñafrancia Festival, one of the largest religious celebrations in the Bicol region, held annually in Naga City. The coin is exclusively available for purchase through the BSP's online store at bspstore.bsp.gov.ph, with no walk-in orders accepted at its physical store in Malate, Manila. Each commemorative coin is priced at P5,000, carrying a legal tender value of P100. However, the coin is currently out of stock due to high demand, with the BSP stating that an update will be provided once it is available for purchase again. The Peñafrancia Festival is renowned for its Fluvial Procession, symbolizing the return of "Ina" (Our Lady) to her sanctuary. This year's festival saw approximately 1.2 million devotees participate.
