Cambodia Cracks Down on Cyber Scam Operations in Bavet City, Arresting 54
Authorities in Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, have raided four suspected cyber scam locations, arresting 54 individuals. The majority of those apprehended were Vietnamese nationals, and evidence including computers and mobile phones was seized.
In Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, four suspected cyber scam locations operating out of rental houses have been raided, resulting in the arrest of 54 individuals. The operation was conducted in accordance with directives from the Director-General of the National Police and the Governor of Svay Rieng Province to suppress online scams throughout the province. On July 31st, under the direct command of the Provincial Police Chief, specialized police forces, in cooperation with units from the Criminal Police Department and the Bavet City Administration Command, carried out the investigation. The targeted locations in Bavet Central Village and Bavet Leu Village, Bavet City, led to the detention of 54 people (13 women). Among the arrested, 50 were Vietnamese nationals (including 13 women), and 4 were Bangladeshi nationals (all men). Seized evidence includes all-in-one desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, and other related equipment. The suspects and evidence are currently being processed by specialized authorities for legal proceedings at the Provincial Court. The locations where the crimes occurred have been temporarily sealed.
