Indonesia Explores Expanding Migrant Worker Placements in Slovakia

The Indonesian government is exploring the possibility of expanding the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in Slovakia. According to the head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), Benny Rhamdani, Slovakia has expressed interest in accepting foreign workers to address its domestic labor shortages, particularly in the manufacturing and construction sectors. BP2MI plans to conduct detailed studies on Slovakia's labor laws and social security systems to ensure that Indonesian migrant workers receive adequate protection if the placement program materializes. The agency is also considering the introduction of comprehensive programs that include skill development and language training for the workers. Slovakia is a member of the European Union (EU), where the free movement of workers is permitted within the bloc. Successful placement in Slovakia could potentially lead to further opportunities within the EU for Indonesian workers in the future.
