Cambodian People's Party Holds Large-Scale New Member Induction Ceremony in Phnom Penh
The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) held a ceremony in Phnom Penh to induct nearly 3,000 new members. Party official Khuong Sreng praised former Prime Minister Hun Sen's leadership and contributions to development, emphasizing the party's ongoing commitment to the people.
Phnom Penh: The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) held a large-scale ceremony on the morning of July 26, 2026, at the party headquarters in the Prek Pnov district of Phnom Penh, officially registering nearly 3,000 new members from the district's five communes. The event was presided over by Khuong Sreng, a member of the CPP Central Committee, Chairman of the Phnom Penh Municipal Party Committee, and Chairman of the Working Group for the Prek Pnov District. In his speech, Khuong Sreng praised the achievements of CPP President Hun Sen, the former Prime Minister, for rescuing the nation and its people from crisis, rebuilding the country from scratch, and achieving its current remarkable development. He also touched upon the national vision of becoming a high-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050. He further emphasized that "the Cambodian People's Party has always stood at the forefront of protecting the lives of its citizens," citing the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, the government led by the CPP promoted vaccination for the people and successfully contained the spread of the disease, resulting in Cambodia ranking second globally. He added that the CPP leadership shows a commitment to not abandoning the people, sharing their joys and sorrows. Khuong Sreng analyzed that these party activities have earned the trust of the people, leading to a landslide victory in the 2023 general election. Addressing the new members, Khuong Sreng stated, "Your decision today is the right one. You have witnessed the great dedication and care of Party President Hun Sen for peace and national development." He further stated that former Prime Minister Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet are committed to developing the nation in all sectors and resolutely protecting territorial integrity. He called for firm support from the new members for the measures taken by both leaders, such as in the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute and the boycott of Thai goods. He urged each new member to become a valuable vote for the CPP in the upcoming elections of 2027 and 2028, encouraging their cooperation for further national development and prosperity. During the ceremony, Thim Sam-an, a member of the Phnom Penh Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Prek Pnov District CPP Committee, also reported on public service activities for local residents, including one-stop services, security maintenance, and infrastructure development. He stated that these activities have contributed to gaining the trust of the residents and revealed that the total number of new members officially registering today is 2,903 from the five communes in the Prek Pnov district.
