Ratanakiri Province Urges Parents to Prioritize Early Childhood Development and Violence Prevention

Ratanakiri Province has organized a training session for frontline facilitators on parenting education and early childhood care, aiming to promote proper upbringing and the development of children's physical and intellectual capabilities while preventing violence. This training was supported by UNICEF and the Australian government. It was attended by 36 participants, including Mr. Meng Sinath, Deputy Governor of Ratanakiri Province, Ms. Koy Kosal, Deputy Governor of Voeunsai District, Mr. Hak Peng Hii, a lead trainer, as well as relevant officials, local authorities, kindergarten teachers, healthcare staff, village health support groups, and community facilitators, with 20 women among them. During the event, Mr. Meng Sinath, Deputy Governor of Ratanakiri Province, appealed to parents and guardians to pay attention to raising their children from a young age by providing adequate nutrition, breastfeeding, and creating a family environment free from violence. He emphasized that children who receive good care will grow up healthy and become human resources with knowledge, skills, and morals for the nation's future development. Concurrently, Ms. Koy Kosal, Deputy Governor of Voeunsai District, urged the trainees to disseminate the knowledge gained to parents and guardians in their communities, especially regarding maternal and infant health care, hygiene, and breastfeeding. Mr. Hak Peng Hii, the lead trainer, stated that the training aims to strengthen the capacity of community facilitators to better understand the parenting education program, early childhood care packages, and methods for disseminating knowledge to parents and guardians to effectively raise children and avoid violence against them.
