Cambodian Youth Raises Over $260,000 Through Global Cycling Trip for Children's Hospitals

Cambodian youth Thy Tararith has completed an ambitious two-year cycling journey across 40 countries, successfully raising over $260,000 for the Angkor Hospital for Children and Kantha Bopha Hospital. This endeavor has been hailed as a 'symbol of hope' for Cambodian children by Minister of Information, Net Pheaktra. Minister Pheaktra lauded Tararith's actions on his official Facebook page, emphasizing that the value of humanitarian activities lies not just in the amount of money but in the spirit behind them. Tararith transformed a single bicycle into a 'vehicle of hope,' covering approximately 58,000 kilometers over his two-year odyssey, and garnering over $260,000 in donations. The Ministry of Information supported this mission, firmly believing that the media's role extends beyond mere information dissemination to actively fostering positive values, promoting social solidarity, enhancing humanitarian spirit, and publicizing exemplary deeds. Tararith's dedication not only provided funds to save children's lives but also clearly demonstrated a profound 'magnitude of heart,' serving as an excellent role model for the entire nation. Tararith began his fundraising cycling trip on June 9, 2024, departing from Siem Reap province with his bicycle adorned with the Cambodian flag. He traversed 40 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa, returning to Cambodia on July 3, 2026. The conclusion of his mission was officially announced at a press conference held at the Ministry of Information on July 27, 2026, presided over by Minister Net Pheaktra, with the direct participation of Thy Tararith, representatives from the Kantha Bopha Foundation, and the Angkor Hospital for Children.
