LFNC Donates 100 Tons of Rice, 200 Million Kip to Flood Victims in Champasak

The Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) handed over aid to flood victims in Champasak Province, providing 100 tons of rice and 200 million Kip. The assistance was supported by Deseret International Charities (DIC), an international humanitarian organization, and contributions from LFNC committee members and society members, aiming to alleviate the hardships faced by families affected by the recent floods. The handover ceremony took place at the Champasak Provincial Administration Office. Dr. Alounxay Sounnalath, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and President of the Champasak Provincial People’s Council, received the aid in the presence of provincial leaders and representatives from relevant sectors. During the ceremony, Dr. Alounxay briefed the visiting delegation on the province’s socio-economic development and the impact of recent storms and heavy rainfall. According to the provincial Disaster Management Committee, the flooding affected 244 villages, 2,961 houses, and 7,359 hectares of agricultural land. Infrastructure damage included 43 irrigation projects, 55 rural and main roads, 15 riverbank erosion sites, and 35 schools. Provincial authorities are implementing measures to assist affected communities and restore normal conditions, prioritizing the repair of damaged infrastructure and support for families whose livelihoods were disrupted. Dr. Alounxay expressed appreciation for the timely assistance and assured that relief supplies would reach the affected families. On the same day, Prof. Dr. Kikeo visited the provincial LFNC office and met with officials. He presented 60 million Kip to provincial and district LFNC chapters to support their activities and community outreach.
