Indonesia's One Data Bill Advances to Government Discussion After DPR Approval

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) officially adopted the One Data Bill (RUU Satu Data Indonesia) as an initiative bill during its 26th plenary session for the 2025-2026 legislative period. This decision paves the way for joint discussions with the government. The One Data Bill, proposed by the DPR's Legislation Body (Baleg), aims to enhance the efficiency and standardization of data management. The objective is to centralize data previously managed separately by various ministries and agencies, making it more accessible and reliable. This is expected to improve policy-making and the quality of administrative services. The plenary session, led by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani and attended by Deputy Speakers including Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, saw unanimous approval when Puan Maharani asked, "Shall the bill proposed by the DPR's Legislation Body regarding One Data Indonesia be approved as an initiative bill of the DPR?" Following its official status as a DPR initiative bill, the government will prepare an inventory of problems (DIM) and submit it to the DPR for joint deliberation. Furthermore, with the approval of the Deputy Speaker, discussions on these bills are scheduled to proceed during the upcoming one-month recess. In addition to these, the Asset Seizure Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) is also slated for discussion in Commission III.
