Da Nang Island Community Enhances Emergency Medical Transport Capabilities

Tan Hiep Commune in Da Nang City, Vietnam, has strengthened its support system for transporting two emergency patients from Cu Lao Cham Island to the mainland. This was confirmed on the afternoon of September 12 by Ms. Pham Thi My Huong, Chairperson of the Commune's People's Committee. Local authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure prompt medical access for island residents. Cu Lao Cham Island is an island located off the coast of Da Nang City, and sea vessels are essential for medical transport to the mainland. This incident has once again highlighted the importance of healthcare access in island areas and the necessity of a rapid response system during emergencies. The Communist Party of Vietnam has identified the rectification of healthcare service disparities nationwide and the improvement of medical infrastructure, particularly in rural and island areas, as national priorities. While population concentration in urban areas is increasing due to economic growth, strengthening the medical system in rural and island regions is also a crucial element for the maintenance and development of universal health insurance. This enhanced coordination is expected to contribute not only to medical transport but also to improving the quality of life for island residents. The Vietnamese government is also promoting digitalization and telemedicine in the healthcare sector, with a future aim of establishing a system that allows access to advanced medical services even on remote islands.
