Cambodia Inspects Progress of Modernized 'Stueng Chinit' Irrigation System Supported by ADB

On Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, H.E. Chan Sinat, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a working group and a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to inspect the progress of the modernized Stueng Chinit Irrigation System project. The project is being implemented in Tang Kauk district, Kampong Thom province, with financial assistance from the ADB. The mission included the ADB delegation led by Mr. Long Piseth, along with technical officials, national technical advisors, representatives from the Kampong Thom Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, water user farmer communities, and local authorities. His Excellency the Secretary of State emphasized that the Stueng Chinit Irrigation System modernization project was constructed with the objectives of increasing the efficiency of agricultural irrigation and mitigating floodwaters during the rainy season, in response to climate change. Concurrently, the delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) highly praised and expressed satisfaction with the fruitful results of the mission and the progress achieved, which will significantly contribute to improving the livelihoods and bringing numerous benefits to the farmers in the region.
