Vietnam Accelerates Digital Transformation, Builds Modern Information Ecosystem

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is accelerating its digital transformation to build a modern information ecosystem and enhance its information dissemination capabilities. Despite facing a growing publishing market, changing reading habits, and the rise of digital media, VNA Publishing House remains committed to producing high-quality political, social, and photo books. It prioritizes content quality, ideological value, and professional standards over quantity. Vietnam is focusing on developing its semiconductor industry amidst intensifying global technological competition. Experts emphasize the need to strengthen semiconductor workforce training and closely link it with businesses, production, and technological research to meet market demand and enhance participation in global value chains. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the National Centre for Pilot Semiconductor Chip Manufacturing Support, highlighted the industry's role as a foundation for technological self-reliance, national security, and economic competitiveness. In international cooperation, education, training, science, technology, and high-quality human resources are key areas in Vietnam-France relations. Politburo Member Nguyen Duy Ngoc stressed this during his visit to the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) also exchanged cooperation agreements in Paris, in the presence of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam. Vietnam sees opportunities in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aiming not only to expand their applications but also to gradually build industrial capacity, master technologies, and engage more deeply in global value chains. The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and AFK Sistema have agreed to promote cooperation in priority strategic technology areas such as green hydrogen, small satellites, and UAV systems. In emerging fields like quantum technology, learning from pioneering countries such as Russia can significantly shorten the time needed for workforce development and building endogenous capabilities. Vietnam's infrastructure and digitalization are also advancing, with its mobile internet speed ranking 10th globally in July 2026 according to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index. Vietnam has proposed expanding joint research programs, particularly in strategic areas like semiconductor integrated circuits, AI, batteries and energy storage, and biotechnology, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). Korean companies like SK Group are recognized for their investment records in Vietnam, with their capabilities in finance, technology, and management aligning with Vietnam's shift towards selective investment attraction in its new growth phase.
