Kalasin Police Intensify Search for Youths Involved in Village Shooting

A shooting incident involving youths on motorcycles occurred late at night in Kalasin province, northeastern Thailand, causing concern among local residents. Police are intensifying their investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects quickly. The incident took place late on August 31st in a village in Nong Kung Si District. Four gunshots were heard, with bullets hitting a rice barn, trees, and the walls of houses. Residents have expressed concerns about safety and urged the police to conduct a swift investigation and apprehend the perpetrators. On September 2nd, Pol. Maj. Gen. Songpol Bribalprasit, Commander of the Kalasin Provincial Police, stated that he had ordered Nong Kung Si Police Station to expedite the capture of the suspects. Investigators from Nong Kung Si Police Station were on the scene from the first day, gathering information and interviewing involved parties. Suspects have now been identified as a group of youths from Nong Kung Si District who frequently travel in and out of the area. It is believed that the incident stemmed from an argument between the suspect group and another youth group at a restaurant in Nong Kung Si District on the day of the incident, leading to a chase and subsequent shooting. The Provincial Police Commander emphasized that Kalasin Provincial Police and Nong Kung Si Police Station have been strictly enforcing measures against firearms in accordance with the policies of the Prime Minister and the National Police Office, leading to continuous confiscation of weapons. They will continue to intensify checks, particularly for illegal firearms, to prevent further incidents. Noola, a 58-year-old resident, appealed for the swift apprehension of the perpetrators, stating, "We want the police to catch the culprits quickly so that such incidents do not happen again and residents can live with peace of mind."
