Phu Quoc Island Flooded by Heavy Rains; Naval Command Deploys for Resident Support

Localized flooding has occurred in several areas of Suoi May neighborhood, Phu Quoc Special Administrative-Economic Zone, An Giang province, due to prolonged heavy rainfall in recent days, affecting the lives and daily activities of residents. Immediately after receiving information and a request for support from the local authorities, on the morning of July 25, the Naval Region 5 Command mobilized forces and means to urgently move to Suoi May neighborhood to support the residents. At the scene, officers and soldiers of the unit coordinated with the police, militia, and local authorities to move residents out of the deeply flooded areas, and at the same time moved many of their assets to safety. After completing the evacuation of residents and property, the officers and soldiers of the unit continued to coordinate with local forces to support residents in cleaning up mud and sanitizing houses after the water receded. As of 2:15 PM on the same day, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 were still continuing to support residents in overcoming the consequences of the flood.
