Vietnam-Tanzania Business Forum Boosts Practical Cooperation Amid Trade Surplus Shift

A business forum aimed at further deepening economic cooperation between Vietnam and Tanzania has been held. The forum focused on exploring practical cooperation opportunities, particularly in the trade sector. Vietnam has become a significant export market for Tanzania, with agricultural products, especially cashew nuts, seeing robust growth. The International Trade Centre (ITC) has also identified Vietnam as one of Tanzania's most promising export markets. Statistics indicate a notable increase in Tanzania's trade surplus with Vietnam. This surplus grew from USD 140.9 million in 2022 to USD 314.2 million in 2025, reflecting rising demand for Tanzanian products in the Vietnamese market. Both nations confirmed their commitment to further developing economic cooperation, building on their long-standing political trust. This aligns with Vietnam's foreign policy strategy, which seeks to pursue economic growth while maintaining stable diplomatic relations under its one-party system. Strengthening ties with Tanzania is also crucial for Vietnam in establishing a foothold in the African market. The forum served as a platform to solidify trade relations and create new business opportunities between the two countries. Moving forward, expanded cooperation across various sectors, beyond agriculture, is anticipated.
