SWS: Trust in President Marcos drops to record-low 34 percent

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos who have much trust in President Marcos have dropped to a record low in the second quarter of the year, according to a commissioned survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS). The June 20 to 29 survey, commissioned by the Stratbase Group, found that only 34 percent of the respondents had “much trust” in the President, down one point from the 35 percent he obtained in a similar survey in March. Those who had “little trust” in Marcos surged from 38 percent to 45 percent, while undecided respondents dropped from 26 percent to 19 percent. Marcos had a resulting net trust rating of -11, obtained by subtracting those who had little trust from those who had much trust in the President. It is the President’s lowest net trust rating in the Stratbase-commissioned polls conducted by SWS. He obtained a net trust rating of -3 in both the November 2025 and March 2026 surveys. “The latest figures continue a downward trend from the President’s 64 percent trust rating in July 2024,” Stratbase said. “Trust steadily declined throughout 2025, briefly recovering to 48 percent in June 2025 before falling again over the succeeding months to 34 percent in the latest survey.” Stratbase Institute president Dindo Manhit said the latest survey, released ahead of Marcos’ fifth State of the Nation Address should be seen as an opportunity for the administration to respond to growing public concerns and outline its priorities for the remainder of its term. Meanwhile, the Stratbase-commissioned survey showed that Vice President Sara Duterte was able to sustain her trust rating of 57 percent. But like Marcos, those who had “little trust” in her increased from 22 percent to 27 percent, while undecided respondents dropped from 20 percent to 15 percent. Duterte had a net trust rating of +30, down from +36 in the March survey.
