Vietnam Busts Explosives Smuggling from Laos, Seizes Over 210kg

Vietnam's border guards in the central province of Quang Tri have arrested two suspects and seized over 210 kilograms of explosives in an operation to crack down on illegal transportation of explosive materials from Laos into Vietnam, according to a report by Tuoi Tre newspaper on August 8. In the second phase of the investigation, authorities arrested a man named Nguyen Duy Khanh, 46, in the border area of Trung Son commune, and discovered 68 kilograms of explosives. Following his interrogation, authorities also seized an additional 67 kilograms of homemade explosives and several detonators. Previously, on July 23, another suspect named Ho Van Ngoc Truong was arrested in Kha Sanh commune, where authorities seized 74 kilograms of explosives. In total, Vietnamese authorities have arrested two suspects and confiscated over 210 kilograms of explosives and related items. The case is currently under legal investigation.
