Thai Airways to Establish MRO Hub at U-Tapao Airport, Signs 210 Rai Lease Agreement with EEC

Thai Airways is scheduled to sign a lease agreement for 210 rai (approximately 83 acres) of land at U-Tapao International Airport with the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office on August 4th. This agreement marks a significant step towards the full-scale launch of Thai Airways' aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) business, which is expected to involve an investment of over 10 billion baht and is anticipated to become a key pillar of Thailand's aviation industry. Through this agreement, Thai Airways aims to establish a state-of-the-art MRO hub at U-Tapao Airport, striving to offer internationally competitive services. The EEC Office anticipates that this project will significantly contribute to the economic development of Thailand's eastern region, particularly in fostering the aerospace industry. The government is considering support measures, including tax incentives, for this MRO business, with an aim for early commencement of construction in 2027.
