■ State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets with Chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar Cardinal Charles Bo ■ Matters concerning freedom of religion, national peace, and social harmony were discussed State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received and met with a delegation led by Cardinal Charles Bo, Chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar, at the Presidential Palace on the morning of August 5. It is reported that matters concerning freedom of religion, national peace, and social harmony were discussed during the meeting. During the meeting, Cardinal Charles Bo, Chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar, expressed his joy and honor at having the opportunity to meet with the State Administration Council Chairman and acknowledged the efforts being made to carry out national duties amidst challenges. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude for the land granted for the construction of a Catholic church in Nay Pyi Taw and offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of all Myanmar citizens, including the State Administration Council Chairman. The State Administration Council Chairman explained that Myanmar allows freedom of worship for all religions and does not discriminate based on religion. He also stated that land has been granted for the construction of places of worship for various religions in Nay Pyi Taw in a dignified and orderly manner. Continuing, the State Administration Council Chairman stated that the nation is continuing on the path of multi-party democracy and believes that peace can only be achieved through dialogue. He also expressed that political demands should be resolved through political means. Furthermore, the State Administration Council Chairman appealed to religious leaders to continue to support the refinement of the thoughts and spirits of the people, national reconciliation, and the peace and prosperity of the nation through the teachings of religion. After the meeting, the State Administration Council Chairman inquired about the needs of the religious leaders and provided assistance for their requirements, and both sides exchanged gifts and took a commemorative group photo.
