Chonburi Police Deny Murder Suspects Linked to Officers Amid Rumors

CHONBURI police issued an urgent clarification on August 2, vehemently denying social media rumors that the four suspects arrested in two murder cases are sons of police officers or acted on their behalf, according to Amarin TV. The rumors had spread across social media and some media outlets, alleging close ties between the suspects and police officers or that they were hired to act for them. Chonburi police stated that their investigation, utilizing databases, investigation records, and relevant evidence, found no evidence whatsoever to support claims that the suspects are sons of police officers or have any relationship with them. Furthermore, there is no evidence to suggest the suspects were supported, ordered, or acted on behalf of police officers. The police emphasized that the prosecution is proceeding based on evidence and the rule of law, without discrimination or favoritism towards offenders. They pledged to continue and expand the investigation, prosecuting all involved parties according to the law, and urged the public to report any useful information. Previously, Thana Kertthong, 43, and Thongchai Srinil, 39, were arrested in Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia for the murder of two Russian siblings, confessing to the crime. They also confessed that they, along with two other suspects, Chatchanan Paen-iam and Asadang Chuawong, were involved in the triple murder of a Thai family at the end of June.
