ALP says it will continue to strive for lasting peace

Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chairman Saw Myar Razalin said, "We will continue to strive for lasting and stable peace, prioritizing the interests of the public." This was stated at a meeting between the National Unity and Peacebuilding Coordination Committee and the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) held on July 27 in the meeting hall of the Singaha Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw. It is said that discussions are underway to enable the public to live under a peaceful umbrella, and that the party has been participating on the front lines throughout the NCA (Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement) process and continues to work for peace to this day. Saw Myar Razalin said that it is time to strive for a union based on democracy and federalism as stipulated in the NCA agreement, in accordance with political outcomes, and that now is a good opportunity and a good time. At the meeting, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, said that they are open to meeting and discussing peace with any organization. He also said that they will continue to discuss with the NCA-EAO negotiation team and hold bilateral meetings with each organization individually, and that necessary matters will be fulfilled and coordinated in accordance with the policies of the relevant ministries. After that, the attendees discussed matters related to building a union based on democracy and federalism in accordance with political outcomes, cooperating with the state government and the military for stability and development, preventing actions that would harm mutual trust, ensuring the livelihoods of the people in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State, and Ayeyarwady Region, and providing humanitarian assistance. After that, coordination was made to record the discussions of both sides, and the record was signed and approved.
