Wooden House Fire in Phnom Penh, Suspected Electrical Short Circuit

A fire completely destroyed a wooden house in Kilometer 6 Street, Russey Keo District, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on July 26, 2026, at approximately 11:35 AM. The incident occurred in Krau Ko village within the district, resulting in the total loss of the house and all its contents. According to local residents at the scene, the homeowner was out at the time of the fire, leaving only a young nephew and niece inside. Suddenly, flames and thick smoke emerged from within the house, alarming neighbors who rushed to help with fire extinguishers and hoses, and immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Mr. Chin Buntheon, Deputy Governor of Russey Keo District, also arrived at the scene to facilitate traffic for the specialized fire department to carry out their intervention. The fire caused the complete destruction of one wooden house with a corrugated iron roof, along with all its household belongings. Firefighters deployed a total of seven fire trucks (five from the Fire Prevention Office, one from the Russey Keo District Hall, and one from Grand Camel Company) to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities, and the fire did not spread to neighboring houses.
