National Assembly Committee Organizes Procession of Buddha Image to Ta Keo Pagoda, Supporting Buddhism

The 9th Committee of the National Assembly of Cambodia, responsible for Public Works, Transport, Civil Aviation, Posts and Telecommunications, Industry, Science, Technology, Innovation, Mines and Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, organized a solemn and grand ceremony on the morning of September 9, 2026, to enthrone a "Buddha image" at Wat Seiharatnararam Pagoda in Don Kaev city, Ta Keo province. The ceremony was held under the initiative and devout faith of the 9th Committee of the National Assembly, with the participation of the President of the National Assembly, H.E. Khuon Sudary. The objective is to support and promote Buddhism and contribute to the construction of various achievements within the pagoda, serving as a place of worship for Buddhists from near and far. A distinctive feature of the Buddha image and its shrine is that the image depicts the Buddha in meditation, crafted from stone sourced from Pursat province. The facial features and gestures (mudra) of the Buddha image have been meticulously discussed and overseen by leaders from the Ministry of Cults and Religion and the Supreme Sangha Council to ensure compliance with Buddhist principles and the preservation of Khmer artistic styles. The construction of the shrine was led by H.E. Ly Rasmey, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, a renowned architect who has participated in the construction of major national buildings and infrastructure. The significance and meaning of the Buddha image extend beyond merely representing Gautama Buddha; it symbolizes the Dharma, wisdom, peace, and compassion. The enshrinement of this Buddha image will serve to awaken the consciousness of Buddhists, reminding them of the Buddha's merits and encouraging them to adhere to the path of truth. Source: AKP Khmer
