Dak Lak Province Announces 2026 Durian Festival to Boost Brand Value

Dak Lak Province in Vietnam's Central Highlands has announced the details of the 'Dak Lak Durian Festival' scheduled for 2026. At a press conference held at the Hanoi International Convention Center, the festival's theme was revealed as 'Dak Lak Durian - Connecting Far and Wide,' signaling the province's commitment to strengthening the brand value of its key agricultural product, durian, and enhancing its recognition in the international market. This festival is intended to go beyond a mere harvest celebration and contribute to building a national brand for Vietnamese agricultural products as a whole. In recent years, the Vietnamese government has intensified strategies to increase the added value of agricultural products and promote sustainable growth, with this festival positioned as part of that initiative. Dak Lak Province also announced adjustments to its development plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050, and is calling for investment in 257 projects. This is understood to include measures to promote investment in the agricultural sector. Prior to the festival, tours and experiential programs at durian orchards are planned, offering participants a firsthand experience of the production process. Additionally, an exhibition and sale showcasing the province's representative agricultural products and traditional crafts is also planned to be held concurrently. This will serve as an excellent opportunity to revitalize the regional economy and promote Dak Lak's rich nature and culture both domestically and internationally. Under Vietnam's one-party system, provincial governments are pushing forward with unique initiatives utilizing local resources to achieve the central government's economic development goals, and this festival can be understood within that context.
