Cambodia Urges Halt to Resurfacing Old Issues on Social Media Regarding Saudi Workers

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has urged social media users to cease re-sharing past difficult cases of Cambodian workers in Saudi Arabia, warning that such actions are creating misunderstandings. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the ministry, pointed out that some social media users have recently re-posted videos concerning requests for assistance from Cambodian workers in Saudi Arabia, which occurred last year. According to Mesa, the videos were filmed last year when Cambodian and Saudi Arabian authorities collaborated to facilitate the safe return of these workers to Cambodia. He therefore requested that these videos be removed to prevent public misunderstanding. The ministry emphasized that it consistently prioritizes the well-being of Cambodian citizens working abroad and provides swift assistance for problem resolution. It works to ensure citizens are not subjected to unfair treatment abroad through both national legal mechanisms and international frameworks. Once again, the spokesperson appealed to social media users to share only true information from clear sources, avoiding the dissemination of fake news or old information that occurred years ago.
