Cambodia Joins SGATAR Meeting in Singapore to Shape Future of Taxation

The Cambodian tax authority, led by H.E. Kong Vibol, Secretary of State attached to the Prime Minister and Government Delegate in charge as Director General of the General Department of Taxation, participated in the 55th annual meeting of the Study Group on Asian Tax Administration and Research (SGATAR). The meeting took place in Singapore from September 8th to 10th, 2026, and focused on discussions regarding the latest trends and strategies in taxation. The main theme of the 55th SGATAR meeting was 'Shaping the Future of Tax: Advancing Technology, Building Trust, Cultivating Talents.' Cambodia's delegation's participation reflected its commitment to contributing to and exchanging experiences with the 19 member tax administrations in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as several major international institutions. This meeting served as a valuable opportunity for Cambodia to learn about new trends, advanced technologies, and strategies for further enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and modernization of its tax system. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, Cambodia aims to strengthen the capacity of its tax administration to ensure sustainable national revenue collection and contribute to national economic development. SGATAR serves as a platform to promote cooperation and information exchange among tax administrations in the Asia-Pacific region, playing a crucial role in advancing tax reforms and international tax cooperation. Cambodia's participation underscores its dedication to adopting best practices in tax administration on the international stage and reinforcing its domestic fiscal foundation.
