Sun PhuQuoc Airways Launches Singapore - Phu Quoc Route, Expanding International Network

Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) has launched its fourth international route, connecting Singapore with Phu Quoc Island, starting July 25. The new service operates one flight daily, enhancing connectivity between the Lion City and Vietnam's popular resort destination. The flight 9G721 departs from Phu Quoc at 10:35 AM, arriving at Changi Airport at 1:20 PM local time. The return flight, 9G720, leaves Singapore at 2:20 PM and lands in Phu Quoc at 3:05 PM. SPA is pursuing a "Resort in the Sky" model, aiming to elevate service experiences towards international 5-star standards. This includes amenities such as the Sun Executive Lounge, next-generation cabins, unique Mediterranean-inspired fragrances, wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE), checked baggage, and onboard meals tailored to fare classes, all designed to provide a continuous resort experience. Upon arrival in Phu Quoc, passengers from Singapore will receive complimentary Sun World Hon Thom cable car tickets, priority boarding with Wow Pass, and discounts of up to 30% on accommodation, dining, spa, and entertainment services within the Sun Group ecosystem. Members of Sun Signature, Sun Group's loyalty program, can earn points from flights to redeem for various privileges across the ecosystem and enjoy integrated global payment facilities via NCB bank's Visa cards. Through collaboration between Sun Group and Changi Airports International (CAI), Phu Quoc International Airport is being developed as a "destination airport," creating a seamless journey from ground to air from the moment passengers enter the airport. This Singapore route follows SPA's existing international services to Taipei, Seoul, and Hong Kong. The airline plans to launch a route to Bangkok on August 8 and is actively exploring expansion into Malaysia, India, Japan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Domestically, SPA also inaugurated two new routes on July 25: Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong - Phu Quoc, further solidifying its hub-and-spoke model centered on Phu Quoc. The airline intends to open more domestic routes to Da Lat, Can Tho, and Buon Ma Thuot, improving accessibility to Phu Quoc from various economic regions within Vietnam. To support its expansion plans, Sun PhuQuoc Airways intends to grow its fleet to 32 aircraft by 2026 and introduce the Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft into its operations starting in September. This strategic move is expected to facilitate the expansion of its medium and long-haul network, advancing its "Rise to the World" strategy and contributing to Phu Quoc's emergence as a new regional gateway for tourism and trade.
