Vietnam Promotes New Approaches for Disability Inclusion

In Hue City, Vietnam, an event titled 'Supported by Hands - Standing on Feet' was held to explore new approaches for promoting the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The event aimed to foster the development of their capabilities, establish sustainable livelihoods, and expand opportunities for integration into the community through practical livelihood models, job creation, and policy dialogues. Notably, the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology was highlighted for its potential to bridge the gap between people with disabilities and society, creating deeper empathy and a chain of support. This aims to reduce barriers to information and opportunities faced by individuals with disabilities. Improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities was also a key theme. The objective is not merely to provide jobs, but to offer environments where their skills and abilities can be fully utilized, supporting their economic independence. Furthermore, the merger of the Vietnam Association for the Support of Disabled Children and the Vietnam Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities and Orphans is noteworthy as a move towards organizational integration and efficiency in disability support. This is expected to build a more comprehensive and effective support system. These initiatives reflect the Vietnamese Communist Party's commitment to social progress, embodying the principle of 'leaving no one behind.' They also align with efforts to support victims of unexploded ordnance, a legacy of past conflicts, aiming to contribute to the overall advancement of society.
