The funeral of a man, identified as KD, who was allegedly beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of chicken theft in Tabanan, Bali, was marked by the tearful grief of his family. The tragic scene was captured in a video that later went viral on social media. According to I Made Sutama, the village head of Sidetapa, KD left behind three children: the eldest has his own family, the second is in the first year of high school, and the youngest is in the first year of elementary school. Sutama stated he felt immense sadness witnessing the children's sorrow when they went to collect their father's body. Despite the circumstances, the family has reportedly accepted KD's death as a "calamity" and does not plan to pursue legal action. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 24, in the Juwuk Legi hamlet, Batunya village, Baturiti district, Tabanan regency. I Putu Wiwik Endrayani, head of the Tabanan Police Public Relations, stated that KD was caught by residents while allegedly attempting to steal a fighting chicken belonging to a local. Police are currently investigating not only the alleged chicken theft but also the mob violence that led to KD's death. Investigators are questioning witnesses and working to identify those involved in the assault.
