Cambodia Launches Unified Provincial News Websites to Enhance Digital Trust

Phnom Penh, September 21, 2026--Minister of Information, H.E. Net Pheaktra, emphasized that technology is a tool, content is the heart, and the system is the means, but public trust is the ultimate goal. He made these remarks during the official inauguration ceremony of the "Unified Provincial News Websites" on the morning of September 21, 2026, at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. H.E. Net Pheaktra stated that the launch of the unified websites for all 25 provincial and municipal news departments is a significant step in responding to new demands. By creating a "Unified Digital Identity" under the national domain ".info.gov.kh", the government is facilitating the identification and search for official information sources from provincial and municipal news departments. "This unified identity is a crucial point for building trust," he affirmed. In a digital world where information is abundant and both true and false news can spread at the same speed, these 25 official websites must become sources where citizens can access official and verifiable information, the Minister added. Furthermore, H.E. Net Pheaktra expressed immense pride that this project has not only concluded with system design and training but has also produced tangible results and is already serving society. As of today, the 25 provincial and municipal news websites have produced and disseminated a total of over 14,000 articles and digital content, attracting more than 100,000 visitors. "These figures are not just numbers on a report; behind each number is the effort of information officials, behind each article is information for the public, and behind each visitor is a citizen seeking information," he asserted. "This is clear evidence that the provincial and municipal news departments have begun and are fulfilling their roles as active, responsible, and professional digital information sources and centers at the local level. More importantly, we must continue to ensure that all disseminated information is of quality, beneficial, and meets the needs of the citizens." On this occasion, H.E. Net Pheaktra added that today, they are not just inaugurating 25 websites but a digital information network of the Ministry of Information that has already begun serving the public. "We are building a new bridge that connects information from the local to the national level and connects state institutions to the public." "More importantly, we are demonstrating that the digital transformation of the Ministry of Information is not a vision for tomorrow; it is a reality happening today," H.E. Net Pheaktra further stated. According to the Minister of Information, this is a meaningful step. From this step, they will proceed to the next: from websites to multi-platform channels, from traditional news to digital news, from disseminating information to providing information services that better respond to citizens, and from isolated systems to interconnected and integrated systems.
