Multi-vehicle Collision on HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway Causes 6km Traffic Jam

Around 6 PM on September 18, a large sleeper bus with a license plate from Ca Mau province, traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Expressway towards Ho Chi Minh City, collided with four vehicles ahead, including a 7-seater car, a 5-seater car, and two pickup trucks. The accident occurred in the Ben Luc commune area. Following the collision, all five vehicles came to a halt in lane 1, adjacent to the central divider. While the vehicles sustained minor damage to their front and rear, no casualties were reported. However, the incident happened during the evening rush hour and coincided with rainfall, leading to a prolonged traffic jam extending approximately 6 kilometers. This significantly impacted traffic flow. By nearly 7 PM, authorities had cleared the accident scene, and traffic resumed. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Expressway, which opened in 2010, is nearly 50 kilometers long and features four lanes with two emergency stopping lanes.
