PO Bus Clarifies Viral Jokowi's 'I Will Fight' Slogan as Horn Sound

A video circulating on social media showing buses with horns playing a soundbite of Indonesian President Joko Widodo's iconic "Saya akan lawan!" (I will fight!) slogan has sparked significant attention. The video reportedly features vehicles from several bus operators (PO), including MTrans. However, MTrans's Human Resources Development (HRD) spokesperson, Jhony Sasongko, has vehemently denied the video's authenticity, stating that their buses are not equipped with such modified horns. He confirmed that an investigation into the buses operating on the route allegedly shown in the video (Blitar-Jakarta) found no such modifications. Jhony emphasized that MTrans adheres to strict regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for its fleet, including specifications for horns. He asserted that the company could not confirm the video's accuracy and indicated a high probability that it was edited. In response to the proliferation of fabricated content involving bus company names on social media, MTrans urged the public to be more discerning and verify information. They specifically appealed to bus enthusiasts (Busmania) to foster a more positive atmosphere for public transportation. Previously, a short video showcasing buses with unique horn sounds had gone viral. While bus horns commonly play the "telolet" sound, this particular video featured a snippet of President Joko Widodo's speech, drawing mixed reactions from netizens who were amused by the creativity but also questioned the originality of the sound and the legality of modifying horns on public roads.
