Cambodia's Ministry of Information has emphasized that news production requires strategic thinking and deep insight, not solely technical skills. At a meeting for staff at the Battambang Provincial Information Department, a deputy minister stated that timely and accurate information dissemination and understanding public needs are crucial for effectively showcasing achievements and countering misinformation.

The Ministry of Information of Cambodia has emphasized that the production and dissemination of news require not only technical skills in writing or photography but also strategic and in-depth thinking to respond effectively and in a timely manner to actual local situations. This statement was made by H.E. Tep Asnara Rith, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, during an orientation meeting on "News and Public Opinion" for civil servants at the Battambang Provincial Information Department on July 16, 2026. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Chea Lysei, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Information, responsible for the Battambang Provincial Information Department, along with leaders and civil servants from various provincial information departments. H.E. Tep Asnara Rith recalled, "News production is an influential propaganda strategy to highlight and promote all real work achievements in the province to inform the public. As information strategists for the provincial administration, specialized officials must have a clear strategic vision to control the information battlefield and clarify public opinion in a timely manner, reflecting actual progress, understanding the needs of the people, and adhering to professional ethics to protect public interests." Concurrently, the spokesperson encouraged officials at the Battambang Provincial Information Department, especially the team responsible for news and public opinion, to increase their proactiveness in planning content production clearly and responding to current social trends. Furthermore, H.E. urged officials of the Battambang Provincial Information Department to continue paying close attention to public opinion matters without any negligence, as "fake news and social pollution can occur at any second." "Quickly managing the situation starts with knowing in advance and always being prepared." In addition, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Information encouraged the Battambang Provincial Information Department to strengthen cooperation with journalists both within and outside the province to ensure the provision and dissemination of professional and trustworthy true information. Timely and comprehensive information from the authorities not only helps journalists in their work but also helps prevent the spread of false news that could lead to legal challenges. On this occasion, H.E. Chea Lysei, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Information and responsible for the Battambang Provincial Information Department, highly praised the efforts of civil servants in all sectors, especially the Information and Public Opinion departments, for their active cooperation in combating malicious fake news that has damaged the reputation of the province and government leaders, stating that such negative information has been neutralized by factual news. Mr. Sovann Vithitya, Director of the Battambang Provincial Information Department, accepted the recommendations from the ministry's leadership to implement them for better results. He believes that this orientation meeting will provide additional knowledge and skills to civil servants to increase work efficiency and enable them to respond quickly and in a timely manner to actual situations. Simultaneously, the department will strengthen the effectiveness of its dissemination work on its official social media platforms, such as its website, Facebook, and Telegram, as well as National Radio Chamkar Chek and Battambang National Television, to become a reliable source of information for all citizens.
