Vietnam Border Guards Host Mid-Autumn Festival for Children in Border Areas

In Vietnam's central Quang Tri province, the Border Guards (Bộ đội Biên phòng) have collaborated with local communities and schools to organize Mid-Autumn Festival (Tết Trung thu) events for children residing in border areas. On the evening of September 22, at the campus of Hoa Son Primary and Secondary School, the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with the Kim Dien Commune People's Committee, organized the "Borderland - Moon Festival" program 2026. This event marks the commencement of a series of activities aimed at celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival for children in the province's border regions. The initiative aims to bring the joy of this traditional festival to children in border areas and strengthen community bonds. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government prioritizes investments in social welfare and education, with particular emphasis on support for rural and remote regions, which is considered crucial for national cohesion and social stability. The Border Guards play a role not only in maintaining security but also in fostering cooperative relationships with local residents and contributing to social problem-solving. Previous initiatives include the "Light and Smiles" program, which provided free medical check-ups and nearly 1,700 gifts, the mobilization of 3 billion VND (approximately 15 million USD) to support students in border areas, and the "Stepping Towards School Together" program, demonstrating ongoing efforts to improve educational environments and provide living support for children in these regions.
