Ho Chi Minh City Prioritizes Flood, Heavy Rain, and Landslide Control

Ho Chi Minh City has announced its intention to prioritize the control of heavy rains, tidal surges, and landslides, in addition to conducting health check-ups for approximately 9 million citizens by the end of the year and accelerating the registration of unregistered births. This decision highlights the urgent need for infrastructure development and disaster prevention measures in the city. As the largest city in southern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City has experienced rapid urbanization and economic growth. However, its geographical location makes it vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Frequent heavy rains and rising sea levels leading to tidal surges have caused extensive flooding in urban areas, severely affecting citizens' lives and economic activities. The risk of landslides in areas along rivers and on slopes is also a significant concern.
