Two Chinese Nationals Arrested for Illegal Work at Pattaya Language School
Two Chinese nationals have been arrested in Pattaya, Chonburi province, for alleged illegal work at a language school. Authorities are intensifying crackdowns on violations of foreign worker employment laws.
PATTAYA, Thailand – Two Chinese nationals face legal action after officials from the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office and other government agencies inspected a Chinese language school in Naklua, Banglamung, on September 6, uncovering alleged labor violations. The inspection was prompted by a complaint regarding the employment of foreign workers. During the operation, authorities found three Thai employees and two Chinese nationals at the school. One Chinese national is suspected of working without a required work permit and has been taken to Pattaya City Police Station for prosecution under Section 8 and the penalty provisions of Section 101 of the Emergency Decree on Non-Thai Nationals’ Working Management, B.E. 2560 (2017), as amended. The second Chinese national is accused of violating the requirement to notify the registrar of their employer, workplace, and primary type of work within 15 days. Legal proceedings are also underway for this individual at the Pattaya City Police Station. The coordinated inspection involved multiple agencies, including the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office, Chonburi Labor Office, Internal Security Operations Command, provincial security officials, Banglamung district authorities, Chonburi Immigration, Tourist Police, Banglamung Public Health Office, and Pattaya City. Officials stated the operation aimed to ensure foreign workers are employed in compliance with Thai law and that businesses adhere to regulations concerning foreign employment. This action highlights Thailand's ongoing efforts to enforce labor laws and curb illegal employment, particularly in areas with a significant foreign population. Source: Pattaya Mail
