Cambodia: Trio, including minors, arrested for motorcycle robbery

Three young men, aged 18 to 19, have been arrested in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for their alleged involvement in a motorcycle robbery. On September 22, 2026, forces from the Dangkor District Police Inspectorate publicly presented the suspects following their apprehension in connection with the theft of a motorcycle from a victim. The arrested suspects are identified as: 1. Chanty Socheat, male, 18 years old, a delivery worker, residing in a rented room in Bak Chann commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province. 2. Khim Rak, male, 18 years old, a delivery worker, residing in a rented room in Prey Tea village, Kakab commune, Por Sen Chey district, Phnom Penh. 3. Pat Somnak, male, 19 years old, a delivery worker, residing in a rented room in Prey Tea village, Kakab commune, Por Sen Chey district, Phnom Penh. They were apprehended at approximately 11:30 AM on September 21, 2026, at Boeung Chhuk, a dirt road in Kok Krabey village, Ruy Pao commune, Kang Meas district, Kampong Cham province. Seized evidence includes: 1. A HONDA SCOOPY motorcycle, black, license plate Phnom Penh 1LW-0886 (belonging to the victim). 2. A HONDA DREAM C125 motorcycle, black, license plate Kampong Cham 1Q-3492. 3. One machete. 4. Two iPhones. According to the authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 AM on September 21, 2026, at a tile warehouse on concrete road in Mal village, Dangkor commune, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh. The victim, Po Chon, had lent his motorcycle to a coworker, Mou Kininn, 16 years old. Around 4:00 AM on the same day, Mou Kininn called the victim, stating that a group of approximately 20 suspects on about 10 motorcycles had pursued him, shot him in the right side of his back with a rubber trap, causing him to fall off his motorcycle. The suspects then took the motorcycle and fled. The incident took place on Street 217 in Sambour village, Dangkor commune, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh. After meeting Mou Kininn at the scene and observing his injuries to his right back and left wrist, both individuals went to the Dangkor Administrative Police Post to report the incident and file a complaint requesting an investigation to apprehend the suspects. Subsequently, at approximately 11:30 AM on the same day, police forces, in cooperation with the Kang Meas District Police Inspectorate, conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of the three suspects at Boeung Chhuk, a dirt road in Kok Krabey village, Ruy Pao commune, Kang Meas district, Kampong Cham province. During interrogation, the three suspects confessed that they and their accomplices, numbering around 30 people on approximately 15 motorcycles, had indeed used a rubber trap to shoot Mou Kininn, causing him to fall, and subsequently robbed him of the victim's motorcycle.
