15 drug addicts handed over to families in Namtu City, TNLA announced

Mekong, July 28 In Namtu City, a TNLA-controlled area in northern Shan State, the TNLA announced that 14 male and 1 female drug addicts who successfully completed a six-month rehabilitation program have been handed over to their families. These individuals underwent six months of re-education, awareness, and rehabilitation programs at a rehabilitation center run by the police force. It is reported that 9 drug addicts were released on July 6, and 6 were released on July 22. According to the PSLF/TNLA's drug eradication law, first-time drug offenders will be sent to a rehabilitation center for six months of detention and education, and then released upon signing a pledge. If they are found to be using drugs again, they will be sent to a rehabilitation center for two to three years and prosecuted under Article ( ख ) of the relevant law. Furthermore, the announcement included that on July 14, two male drug addicts who had completed the rehabilitation program of the township police force in Mine Wi Township were also handed over to their families.
